TL;DR: The name I wanted was taken.
My gamer tag in the old days (when it was more of a 3 character leaderboard ID) was ATH.
My username at almost every company I worked at on every server or workstation has been ath.
I was a UNIX Systems Engineer and worked on HPUX, AIX, various other UNIXs and a lot of Linux. Everything cool in the computing world ends with an X.
I used to have an LLC called ‘ATH-X’. It has long since lapsed. Ironically, when I went to register it again someone had just recently registered ‘Ath-x INC’. I had to make it different. ‘ATH-X Labs’ sounds cool. ‘ATH-X Systems’ sounds even cooler, but my time at AWS has influenced me a lot, so I chose ‘ATH-X Services’.
I used to run a web hosting company, I’ve consulted for small businesses, and I was an early adopter of blogging and podcasting. I’ve never posted a vlog, but I have made many training videos.
I wanted to write again and depending on what I’m doing, avail myself to consulting. I’ve built some very useful tools for myself; I will likely offer those on this site.
